HEIRUL KAMELNOVEMBER 28, 202011  0  483 READS Korean tech giant Samsung may have indirectly teased two possible new products via its Samsung Display blog. What makes these interesting is that one device appears to be a smartphone with a tri-folding form factor, while the other is a tablet that exhibits a rollable design. The tri-folding device is a possible reimagining of the brand’s Galaxy Fold series, where one third of the display would remain as a main screen even when the phone is in its folded form. This eliminates the need of having an external display, as seen on both the Fold and Fold 2 models. And would also provide a seamless experience for the user when using the device in both folded and unfolded modes. It’s also worth noting that a Sam...

Microsoft envisions ‘scoring’ meetings based on body language

You'd know if a get-together was a waste of time. Jon Fingas, @jonfingas3h ago Comments 104Shares  Microsoft/USPTO You might not have to endure as many unnecessary company meetings in the future. GeekWire has found a Microsoft patent application for an “insight computer system” that would give meetings scores based on body language, facial expressions, the number of attendees and even ambient conditions like the time of day and temperature. If people are clearly distracted by their phones, for example, organizers would know a meeting was wasted even if they couldn’t read the room themselves. The technology could apply to both virtual and (eventually) in-person meetings, and would use a mix of cameras and sensors f...

Jon Fingas, @jonfingas51m ago 0Comments 34Shares  taa22 via Getty Images Hackers are fond of hijacking email accounts, and one of them may have obtained a motherlode of potential targets. ZDNet and Gizmodo report that a hacker is selling claimed access to “hundreds” of C-suite executives’ Microsoft-based email accounts, including CEOs, vice presidents and directors. The targets include the chief of a mid-sized American software company, the president of a US apparel maker and the CFO of a European retail chain. The accounts are on the market in a limited-access Russian underground forum and sell for $100 to $1,500 each depending on the value. Threat intelligence firm KELA noted the ...

Scientists might know why astronauts develop health problems in space

The very nature of human cells could play a role. Jon Fingas, @jonfingas3h ago 0Comments 599Shares  NASA via Getty Images People are more likely to develop health issues with extended time in space, such as cardiovascular and sleep disruptions. But why? Scientists might have an idea. They’ve published research indicating that mitochondria, the energy-producing “powerhouses” of cells, may play a key role. Mice with eye and liver problems in studies often had mitochondrial dysfunctions, while NASA astronaut Scott Kelly (above) might have faced immune system changes aboard the International Space Station in 2015 as a result of mitochondrial problems. Bodily fluid samples from many other astronauts also supported claims that mitocho...

The Nokia 5.4 is rumored to launch next month alongside the Nokia 7.3 5G if that launch doesn’t get postponed just like that of the Nokia 9.3 PureView. The blog, Nokia Power User, says they have gotten exclusive info regarding the design,...
